Ok - maybe not the mafia, but I hear (from sources in the chip-world) that in the City of Industry (LA) there are a few players that control a vast sum of chips almost like commodities...and can affect street prices. Anybody ever heard that?

No - I'm talking about the guys that buy tray after tray after tray of INTC or AMD chips...distributor types.

Yes, I see the connection...you propose the existance of a sinister group that spends lots of money buying lots of CPUs just so they can control the supply side of the economics and not recover the investment they made by selling those chips...

C'mon, if you're gonna make up entertaining rumors then you could at least be a little more imaginative.

Try starting your post with "Intel strongarms AAA to BBB" where

AAA = market, economy, company, or small country of choice

BBB = Not do anything unrelated to selling more Intel Chips (popular options include "Make AMD mobos, make DRAM mobos, make AMD notebooks)

remember when that RAM factory burned down a few years ago in asia? It drove up ram prices for a few months because demand was higher than supply
