Im thinking about doing it myself to get me a multipurpose device (where it would act as my TV and computer monitor). Already have a projector for home theater stuff. But was thinking about getting at least a 32 or 37 inch tv to use as my monitor (and one of the newer ones with dvi support).

But my one question is does anybody use a similar device for general computer viewing and if so how does it look? I see most of the "cheaper" tv's are ~1280x720 resolution (720p) which isnt a problem for me but I would assume the newer crop of 1920x1080 panels would give better quality for pc viewing.

Just wanted to get some ideas of TV's tha fare well in this area and peoples impressions that have used them in such a capacity.

1080p LCDs seem like the way to go for the 37" size range.

I don't really see the point of getting a larger display if you have a large one for movies already and just need a smaller PC display. You'd probably just end up sitting farther away from a 720p LCD to make it look better and then you kind of lose the point of the larger screen size.

Since resolution is pretty much what I find more useful for PC usage, I'm running a couple 20" LCDs for 3200x1200 total and then the projector for when I want to have a large screen size.

yeah thats what i was leaning to (1080p if I go 37 or 720p if I go with the 32). And I have been a fan of dual monitors (have dual at work). But I have a l90d+ right now (19 lcd) and was thinking about getting a second one or sell my current one and saving the money i would have spent on the second l90d+ and putting both towards a larger tv that could double as a TV when needed and a monitor.

Also if I went with the TV I would get one that does pip. (which would be all kinds os useful to me)

My 2007FPs do PIP as well :p

VGA, DVI, Composite, and S-video inputs.

EDIT: if you want more opinions, search for "westinghouse" in video

These LCD TV's are so cheap now, I bought a 42" HDMI LCD TV for $485CAD + Tax.
I had to wait in line for a couple of hours though :/
