anybody use them? i noticed that if i put a piece of foam filter infront of a fan, the air flow gets reduced quite a bit...are there any filters that doesn't hinder air flow as much? thanks

I use something on one of my fans that is more like a fine wire mesh. I have it on the 92mm fan in the top of my case blowing air out. It is there for no other reason then I don't want my cat's tail to get inside.

does having that 92mm on top actually help drop the temp inside the case? cus i got a 92mm and an sx1030...not sure what to do what the 92mm...

I installed all of my fans at one time so I can't give specifics on which made the most improvement. Here is what I did to my Enlight 7237, I put two Sunon High Output 80mm fans in the front drawing air in. Each fan draws 42.5 cfm (85 cfm total in). I put a 92mm under the power supply and another in the top (blow hole). The 92mm fans exhaust 44 cfm each (88 cfm total). The theory behind this set up is the 80mm's suck the air in to mix with the hot air in the case which is forced out by the 92mms. The intake and exhaust are fairly "balanced". My CPU was running at 48C under load (measured with ASUS Utility, not super accurate). Load was playing Quake 3 Arena for about 90 minutes. Now after adding the fans my CPU is about 39-40 C. I am running the ALPHA PAL6035 with the black label Delta fan. The ALPHA HSF was installed prior to the fans.

Does this help at all?

Used dryer sheets like Bounce make a great filter and barely reduce airflow at all. Just tape one up in front of your fan intake but under the bezel so you don't see it. They really work well.

the bounce sheets i get after drying my laundry has holes varing in sizes everywhere...but i guess it would be good if it doesn't block too much air like the piece of foam filter i have... oh BTW, the bounce sheet doesn't get sucked into the fan itself??

U could use un-used dryer sheets too zaku. won't harm the electronics. makes ur case smell fresh too.

But i still prefer used (without holes :)) sheets because they don't give off as much scent and they blcok less air.

And i get a fresh supply of them every week!

The best thing I've found is filter pads cut from 3M ScotchBrite scrubbing pads. Sometimes it is marketed as "synthetic steel wool". It is cleanable/reusable and does not restrict airflow in the least.

I just cut out pieces from a furnace filter and those seem to do the job. It might lower your airflow a little but it will save your case from looking like a pigpen. :)

I just did the furnace filter thing.. im hoping it works good.. but the bounce sheets sound like a good idea too... aren't those the ones that are sorta rubbery like a think layer of foam rubber??? I might have to buy some of those suckas... cutting the furnace filter made me itch... <scratch, scratch>

I replaced the metal finger guards over my two blowholes with plastic grills and filters that I got at 2cooltek. They have helped reduce the amount of debris in my case but I need to take more steps.

I cut out the metal grill over the 80mm intake fan in the lower front of the case and drilled out the vent holes in the case bezel, making them approximately 4 times larger. I know that's the where the dust is getting in now. Looks like it's time for the wife to give up a pair of panty hose!
