Anybody use pet medicine for their old dog?

I have an old, old dog. 12 year-old golden retriever.

He's quite lethargic now and has trouble getting up sometimes. Can't take him for walks because he gets too tired. He doesn't seem to be in any pain though. He's just old.

I'm thinking about getting some vitamins and a joint enhancer, but wondering if it would do any good.

A good diet would probably be the best thing.
Has he been to the vet recently ?
It always best to take pets to the vet atleast once a year.

My brothers dog was having problems that were like the dog was choking when just sitting around, etc.
Turned out the be allergies . Most people wouldn't think dogs have allergies but the vet said , they are alot like people.
