So with Google Reader gone, I decided to give Currents a try instead of instantly jumping to another traditional RSS app, mainly because there were already things about the RSS experience I didn't like, like the "chore" of clearing it out all the time, feeling the need to read/get to everything, checking it too many times a day, etc. I thought the more casual, card-layout, no "unread count" format of Currents might be an improvement.
It's a nice app, and works well if all you need is simple aggregation. The one thing I can't figure out about it however, and this seems like a large issue, is there's no default way to "click through" to the actual website of the article you're reading. So take Anandtech for example. I can add its "edition" to Currents, but it's useless since there's no way to click through to the full article after reading the intro. I have this issue with several sites. Some are okay, because they might add some links you can use at the end, but others like AT do not.
Adding the RSS feed to the app instead fixes this, because sometimes a link is included there by the site that is not included in the edition, and even if not, there will be a "Show original article" button added by Currents. But this is not present in the edition, so you can't use it.
Seems like a pretty glaring oversight that forces you to use only feeds inside of Currents. Am I missing something here?
