Anybody Transfer Files to Their Phone Via Bluetooth?

Thought I'd try bluetooth to transfer MP3s. I figured it would be easier for my wife, so she wouldn't have to hook up the cable. What a waste of time on all counts. Hell, it was a waste of money to boot! None of my research even hinted at how painfully slow it is.

Well, consider this a heads up for anybody else headed down that path. Anybody want to buy a stupid bluetooth dongle? :|

I didn't know it was that slow, but then again I have only transferred ring tones and phone numbers from my PDA to my phone.

if you try using the bluetooth application to transfer then it's a real pain in the @ss, but if you use your phone's application then it shouldn't take that long but then provided you've been able to synch them, damn i prefer USB connectivity all the way for transfer between pc and phone

Use my samsung d500 and laptop (acer) to do it all the time. transfer speed is around 30kb/s so yes takes a little bit, but it's such a simple process, never had issue with it.

it transfer around 30kb/s, so do the math. well, there is a usb cable i can use, it should be usb2.0

I'd trade the slower speed thing just for the fact that I dont have another cable that I have to take out and hook up everytime I want to put something on my phone or get something off it.

Which one, and how much?

I think the problem is one of the items, either the dongle, or the phone, doesn't have the latest bluetooth, or maybe both don't. That's why you got slow rates.

Anyways, seriously, what make/model is it, and how much you willing to sell it for?

Totally off-topic, but I love that CUSL2 board! Back in the days, I wanted one so bad, but I couldn't afford it at the time. :p

Anyways, yeah I transfer all my pics and contact list from my phone every few weeks. It's not that bad, really. Just start the process and go do some dishes. Come back and it's done!

I'd trade the slower speed thing just for the fact that I dont have another cable that I have to take out and hook up everytime...

I don't know about you, but my wife would have a lot better success plugging in (an already attached) cable, then she will going through the gyrations to get bluetooth rolling:
  1. Open the Bluetooth application (already in startup directory)
  2. Click "Search for devices..."
  3. Wade through phone's menus to Connection, Bluetooth link, Setup, Find Me :roll:
  4. Click on device listed in Bluetooth application
  5. Open Mobile phone tools...
The other way, you just plug in the cable, which is already attched to her PC, then start Mobile Phone Tools!

With my Samsung A920, all I have to do is plug the Trans Flash memory card it comes with (only 32MB, so I bought a 256 for it) into a SD to USB adapter and then into my PC.....quick quick quick.

Pulling the Transflash is not an option for my wife, because I think it's too fragile to be physically screwing with it all the time. Besides, transferring files straight to the card, will allow her to use file names which are too long, putting them in the wrong directory, or using unsupported formats, like WMA. MPT takes away all the chance for screw ups, and has tools for creating ring tones, and address book synchronizing.

She can certainly plug that cable into the phone quicker than she can get the transflash card out, insert it into an adapter, and plug that into a reader.

Gawd, I could type the files in quicker!

Apparently my phone won't allow me to "just plug it in" to transfer files to the transflash card. I have to phisically remove it.

My son's wondrous phone can plug in via a simple USB cable, but the stupid thing doesn't even have a headphone jack! It's got the awesome bluetooth capability, but there are no stereo bluetooth headphones to work with it. Isn't technology grand? :roll:

Yeah, technology rocks. Especially when you look in the right places. Although, music on the phone isn't my cup of tea personally - I don't even own any portable media player. I can only imagine a BT headset used for music would drain your battery pretty quickly. I do own a BT headset for my phone and LOVE it. (Motorola HS850 on my LG VX8100 phone) AWESOME clarity, works anywhere in my apartment, and the battery life is superb.

I did the Bt thing with my V600, and I figured I would do the same with my K750i.

Wait.. MS Duo =)

I pull out the memory stick and i shove it into my card reader. WEWT

Yeah, I'd rather remove the memory and copy straight from the PC, then dick around with this stupid Bluetooth anymore. It may have its place, but transferring large files ain't it.

For now, my wife will be using the cable, which is as easy to connect as the battery charger. I think she can handle that. Glad I didn't waste too much money on this endeavor.

I haven't done it in a long time, but you shouldn't need to do all that except during the first time. As long as you pair the computer and the phone they should automatically connect to each other whenever they're in range (after you initially pair them). At least that's how I remember it.

No, not the V3c. Doesn't matter much for him anyway, because he already has an MP3 player, and his phone only goes three days between charges as it is. If it were used for playing music, it probably wouldn't last a day!
