Wow, not Cobalt Blue.

Is it better and less expensive than the Hawking?

Well, not sure if the Hawking one is comparable. It doesn't have site to site VPN IPsec tunnels and the Linksys has just about every feature I can think of except for SSL for the admin page (they should add that). I know you can find the Linksys for around $250. Never seen that Hawking one until now. What does that go for?

*yea, no blue crappy looking router (imho). This one is rackmountable too, so maybe that's why they gave it a different look.

And it runs Linux too, but that tells me that Cisco didn't have much to do with it unless Cisco has been using Linux in some of their products too and I just never noticed.

I'm gonna wait for some reviews though before I buy it. I remember nexlands dual-WAN turned out to not be as good as I first thought. Anybody seen any reviews for this? I've looked around on the internet but haven't come across any.

I too am interested in this router and thanks for the links JackMDS.
You are so good at finding reviews and links haha!

Here is a good followup I found on one of those pages also.

http://routerworld.dyndns.org/

this guy seems to be documenting the VPN capabilities of the router which is very nice.

I just got one a couple days ago. Set it up today. The complaints about using 1<--->1 opening the firewall are true. *IF* you leave it with the default rule set, it does NOT block unsolicited connects from WAN. You are full open. You need to add a specific rule to close it. Then it works. That prob should be easily fixed with new firmware. The box has nice hardware. The CPU is an Intel IPX425-533, 32MB Ram, 16MB Flash. That's similar to the SnapGear boxes, at a little more than half the cost.( SnapGear has MUCH more mature feature sets though ) Far more horsepower than junkboxes like the BEFSX41. The case is metal, though the front and back are plastic. It comes with Rack mount kit and rubber stick on feet. I have not been able to get the Symantec VPN Client ( Raptor Mobile ) to work yet. I'll have to tinker some more. So far it looks to be a nice box. I just hope Cisco allows them to continue firmware development. This box has the potential to be a SOHO PIX 501 killer. ( a good reason for them to keep the RV082 crippled )

I have not had much luck with mine. I can only get the PPPoE working with the oldest firmware (v 1.0.1) and even then it drops the connection frequently. With the v 1.1.1 firmware telnet does not work and PPPoE will not work with longer usernames. I have Bellsouth which has been flawless but their usernames are username@bellsouth.net and the equipment seems to only be storing a portion of that username and will not connect. VPN is another issue.
