Anybody sent their car out for emission testing?

I recently got a letter in the mail about my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution regarding emissions testing. It was sent by Boshart Engineering. They want to procure the vehicle for a week or two for emissions testing in Michigan (I live in Illinois). I should also mention that since I'm in college, the car is currently just sitting in the garage at home. The incentives are:

-A replacement vehicle from Enterprise with unlimited mileage.
-Convenient pick up and delivery.
-Inspection of the emission control system with necessary repairs performed
-A check for 300 dollars a week

Has anybody ever done this or is it not worth the hassle? Should I do it or not?

I think Mitsubishi wants info on the emissions for this line of cars, so they're paying for it. I should also mention that they say the vehicle is fully insured while in their possession.

What I really want to know is the experiences of people who has had this done. I'm a little leery of handing my car over to some company to do who knows what with it.

I'd thoroughly check into it before I did it. It could be legit, but it could just as easily be some kind of scam.

I mean, they knew that I had an EVO. I dunno how public such information is.

As public as sitting outside your house with a half decent pair of binoculars :p

Their website is pretty well done, but that doesn't mean terribly much anymore.

Your car is going to end up in China and you're going to be stuck with a bill from Enterprise.

One thing that worries me is why Mitsu isn't using their OWN cars? Why do they need OUR cars?

EDIT: Also, the letter stated the compensation was raised from 150 dollars a week to 300 dollars a week. It sounds like they are having trouble getting people to participate.

i wouldn't do it 300 or even 600 wouldn't pay for dick if they are hard on your car. A clutch job alone on your car is like 1K, which a sloppy operator could probably take out a nice big chunk of your clutch's life.

I got a similar letter for my car and it said they wanted to run my car on a dyno for a week to test gas mileage and emissions.

If they run your car on a dyno for a week or two, IMO it's hard on the car because it doesn't get passing air at speed to cool the engine. The toy fans often used in front of dynos don't provide the same cooling. If you've ever seen a car dynoed, the engine often heat soaks after 1 or 2 runs, i wouldn't let anyone run my car on a dyno on and off for a week or two.

The final thing my dad once pointed out to me was if this company was serious, they could easily just buy the car, play with it as much as they want to, and just sell it again. If they can't afford to buy the car for themselves, should you even trust them with yours?

You really want to lend your car to a company which has alot of references to "durability testing" on their website?

Exactly what I was thinking. No way I'd do it.... I'd consider it for $2k per week, but nothing less than that.
