Saw him a few months ago (free box seats) ;). He is actually kind of weird (if you knew me, you would see how ironic that statement actually is). A girl I dated who is a stylist dressed him for a shoot and said he is really strange as well, said talked about being attracted to amputees. When I saw him he had a lot of random comments about silly stuff, but hey, its his show. Not sure if you know this, but he went to Berkley. The girl I date now has a friend that talks to him regularly (Berkley schoolmate, I think). Seems like a nice, but strange cat.

But I haven't seen the DVD so maybe this was a useless post. But don't give up on your playing, he has invested many years into his playing.

I have it. It's good...

My GF and I kept laughing at how he strokes his face/neck up when he jams on the guitar :D

yeah but when he plays..it just looks like he tunes out the crowd, you know? like he's on his own little world. back in college i use to go to alot of piano recitals and the pianist are like that also. they get so into it. i think its kewl.

Yeah, I saw him in concert two years ago as well here in Raleigh, NC. I'm the resident JM fan here on the boards and get TONS of flak for it. Wait til Red Dawn catches whiff of this thread.

Haven't seen it. I'm looking forward to when John develops his own style; right now he's a great guitarist technically, but his music sounds bland to me. It sounds like he's trying to emulate his biggest idol -- SRV -- without actually emulating the emotion behind it. I think he's got a great future ahead of him if he can pull that off.

My Favorite JM Site for media

I haven't watched the whole DVD but I've been to two concerts and will be going to the one tonight in LA :D The best concert I've ever been to was my first JM concert where Norah Jones opened for him...man now that was awesome. It was at Claremont College in Cali too so no teeny-boopers or old people just good old college kids.

You gotta see him live to realize what a true talent this guy is.

Saw him three times (Twice in October 2001 and once in April 2002)... that was enough. He's a great entertainer but the teenybopper "ILUVYOUJOHN!!!" crowd has turned me off. It's surreal to think that the first place I saw him was Slim's in San Fran and there were about 100 people there, max.

Oh, and FYI he went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, not UC Berkeley. It's an extremely prestigous music school, though he dropped out to start his career. Looks like it was the right decision.

mmm Any Given Thursday + Covered in Rain = heaven:music:

i'll be going to my first JM concert in a week in New Orleans... the teenies will probably be out in full force, but i try not to let them bother me.

btw, he's got 2 new songs already, you can listen to them over at score1more4me.com. i really like hummingbird (even tho its quite different from his other stuff), distance on the other hand is a little... odd... you'll see what i mean;)
