Well, I've always believed memory is only as good as the warranty behind it. I haven't paid much attention to Patriot (PDP), seems like a relative newcomer, but their prices on ram with fast timings are unbelievable, that they're worth checking into.

So instead of me buying the cheapest Patriot stick & purposely breaking it to learn how well they stand behind their warranty (which I would never do), I just want to throw out the question if others have had hassles or hassle-free rmas from them.

haven't RMA'd, but just got the 2x512mb xblk+ recently reviewed by AT. Running it @ DDR 460 1t 2-3-3-6 rock solid. Honestly I think it can do better but I'm living with an Athlon64 3200+ CBBID revision, which limits my OC. You probably won't find many people who've RMA'd their RAM, I've heard nothing but good things about PDP. They have great prices and great manufacturing.

Be very careful. I'm getting the runaround from them as I type this. They took 3 weeks to RMA my memory (even though they said 5-10 days). They sent me back memory that is no better than what I sent in.

I RMA'd their cream of the crop 3200+XBLK series (TCCD on Brainpower supposedly). It won't POST over 230mhz in my Asus P5GDC Deluxe no matter what voltage or timings I use. Ironically, my older Corsair PC4400 rev1.1 (hynix chips) will run 253mhz. They're blaiming my equipment and are not willing to resolve the issue. I had their memory a whopping 6 weeks before I contact support with issues. Now I'm over a month into dealing with their *ONE MAN RMA DEPARTMENT*. He answers both email AND the telephone, and does so very slowly.

EDIT: For those of you who don't know any better, PDP guarantees this memory to DDR533 (266mhz)@3-4-4-8.

Yeah, PC3200 = 200MHz. It's dufusses like you that drive prices up and RMAs horrible experiences for the rest of us.

You could have asked him before assuming so much about the RAM. It's guaranteed to run 200 MHz with 2-2-2-5-1t or 266 MHz with 3-4-4-8-1t.

Thanks, and yes, you're correct. They guarantee the 533mhz stability. I only RMA'd because I could show that a competitor's memory (Corsair) would run 23mhz faster (still only topping out at 253mhz) than their memory in the exact same setup. What's more, the memory is TCCD on Brainpower PCB (which should outperform any other DDR1 on the market), so it was obviously in need of replacement.

However, my reservations about PDP are much less today. I got a second RMA in place, they went above and beyond (I can't go into details), but let's just say they did a very good job of providing me memory that would do what they advertised on the sticks I bought (even if it did takes 5-6 weeks and a lot of emails and phone calls). I think the feedback I gave them will encourage them to continue to improve their RMA process (although it may result in some additional terms to their warranty).

In the end, I got a great product for my money.. but it took a great deal of patience waiting on responses.
