Anybody Remember Burger Chef?

Anyone remember the old fast food joint called Burger Chef? They used to be big in the northern states till Hardee's corp bought them out. They actually had good food. Ah, lots of good memories from that place as a child. 🙂

Just in case you're curious, it was this thread that brought back these memories.

I remember Burger Chef very well, but I don't remember any good food. They were on the verge of folding for years and it was very apparent.

Hmm, in my area they did very good and had some very good burgers. Much better than McDonalds Barf burgers.

There was only one Burger Chef in Pittsburgh that I remember, but it's been gone for ages.

😕 jack in the box is 100x better than mcdonald's or burger king. it shouldn't even be in the same category.

In-n-out is where it's at. second is Whataburger.

There was one near me when I lived in St. Louis. Food was better than McDs but still prefer Burger King.

Central Indiana...they were all over the place.
And I still see those Burger Chef Birdhouses......driving through the
country last week, saw one at a farm....He had (obviously) repainted it several
times, but he kept the colors the same...and even still had the name "Burger Chef"
on it...If I remember I'll take a pic next time...

If you're ever in Northeast Ohio, go to Swenson's for a burger. The Galley Boy and Double Cheeseburgers are awesome. 17 flavors for milkshakes too!

Burger Chef had the messiest burgers. One bite and everything fell out the back.

Burger Queen was ok, I remember the 'Queenie Bee' commercials (not sure if that was national or local chain).

I vaguely remember Burger Chef...bald guy, black mustache, smelled vaguely of onions? I think he is a youth counselor in Miami now.
