has anybody ordered the asus a8n-e motherboard from either zipzoomfly or newegg recently? is the motherboard revision 2 with the new quieter fan?

i plan on ordering one really soon if the motherboard ships with the new fan.

I want to know this as well. Any idea of the A8N-E boards on mwave are rev 2.0 either?

I want to build a Venice 3000+ system this weekend, and I'm looking at this mobo as well. Thanks!

I bought an A8N-E from a local store this past week and it had the smaller fan .... however, I already called ASUS and got a replacement fan, which was the bigger fan.
I am building my new machine this weekend and am wondering if I should go ahead and put the new fan on .. or put the board in and make sure it posts and see how it goes .. I may have a fan that works. I jsut don't want to replace the fan before I install and find out i have a bad board and lose out on the warranty because I was being proactive.

My A8N-E from Newegg is a Rev. 2.00 and did not have the quieter diamond-oriented HSF.

I know of an AT member who just recently purchased a revision 2.0 board and it did NOT come with the replacement fan. He went the route I'm going to take with my Asus A8N-SLI. That is, I'm going to use the Zalman NB47J passive heatsink along with good case airflow to cool the nf4 chip. I have the replacement fan as a back-up but it is STILL loud and spins at around 5000-5500 RPM instead of the almost 8000RPM of the original; still too fast for such a small fan that will likely burn out.
There has been an interesting and ongoing dicussion of this problem here at AT in this thread started in January of this year.

FYI, NewEgg has not been carrying the A8N- "E" version of the board for several weeks for reasons unknown. They are only stocking the "SLI" versions of the Asus A8N-xxx

That's the same dilemma I'm facing when I get the final parts for my new system at the end of the week and have to "build".

To see Asus's answer to the nf4 "heat" issue, check out their cooling strategy for the Asus A8N-SLI PREMIUM over here.

WOW !!!

i have a rev2 and it has the small loud fan.

it is the loudest most annoying thing in my system. i just unplugged it and the system seems to be running ok. i did email asus, but i might just buy a zalman replacement one . i hate chipset fans, they all spin too fast.
