I picked up my copy few days back and have played a good 12-15 hours or so,the graphics are better then the old M&M games but stuck at 800x600 res,the new mouse look takes awhile to get use too but overall I would say it`s not bad.I think die hard M&M fans will like it.In the end it`s gameplay & playability that are more important then graphics but it`s nice to have it all.

It does feel empty compared to the older Might & Magic games,I guess this is where they said fewer ,smarter monsters would be the main thing.

Anybody else care to comment?

Havent yet purchased it, but I intend to in a few days.
I'm hoping it will be decent, because I havent truly enjoyed the M&M series since M&M VI: The Mandate of Heaven. Too bad, because it was once one of my favourite RPG series.

<< Or you could always pickup Wizardry 8 to hold you over >>

I`ve finished Wizardry 8 few months back ;) ,yes it was a tough game to finish.

Btw there`s a big major bug in Might & Magic 9 on the IMP quest which is at the castle keep outside & near Sturmford,go in from the top of the keep not the entrance from the front ground, also don`t leave until you have killed everything and completed that quest since if you leave before you have killed everything you won`t be able to finish the quest even if you go back in yes it`s a major bug.

There`s a work around this if you do leave before you`ve finished it which I had to do which was save a game(quicksave is fine) outside the anksramkeep then alt/tab and go to you Might & Magic 9 directory in Windows explorer delete all the minisaves for ankskramkeep in MM9 directory under minisaves directory, then reload the save game and go back in (from the top entrance)and stay in until you`ve finished the quest which means killing everything again but you get to finish the quest.

More info on this at 3DO Forums in the Might & Magic 8 forum(the Might & Magic 9 forum is not up yet so everybody is posting in there).

I`m at level 15 now and some monsters are still very tough however when you start the game the learning curve is pretty good.

Rand I think you will like it,but there`re afew changes as you will see to the controls and layout.

Except for the very end that game was really hard. Some quests were not obvious either and I had to go to the web a few times for help.

RPGs usually have a few bugs on release. I almost always wait for the first patch.

JellyBaby I wonder how many bugs Morrowind and Dungeon siege will have, but it won`t stop people like me being one of the first to pick them up ;).I read two different release dates for Dungeon siege(April 17th and 19th) so I hope one of these are right.

Morrowind I read May 17th.

Morrowing may have quite a few. Previous RPG games by those developers had buckets of bugs. On the other hand they've delayed it to polish the game so maybe this time will be different. The game really looks good so I may break my rule for it. :)

Dungeon Siege doesn't strike me as a complicated game design except for the visual component so I'm sure there won't be many quest bugs. DS was delayed too for extra "polish".

That's why Wiz 8 was so great...no bugs at all. I think it only locked up on me once or twice.
