Anybody Play Pai Gow Poker?

I usually play Pai Gow any time I go to the casinos.

I find it to be a fun game, granted there is very little action. (lots of pushes)

I enjoy it quite a bit, usually I'm the only Caucasian at the table (not to offend anyone, obviously it's an adaptation of an Asian game) I've learned to understand most of the communication at the table.

The only real way to make money at the game is to take the bank.

I usually play pai gow with teh black dominoes,....do they use those, or do they use cards?

and I was wondering, with pai gow, they usually have names and titles for each pairings....how do they do that in english?

now, I"m not talking about majhong.............I'm talking about the game, where each player gets 4 dominos, and they need to make 2 pairs, to get the highest, and besides getting the higest numerical sum, you can make pairs that have like all sorts of titles, like heaven, earth, or whatever.....................it's the black dominios w/ red dots............................

we always called it pai gow.......haha......

maybe, they used the same name for a different game in american casino...

There is a variation of Pai Gow that is played with tiles, I think that is what your talking about.

yea, that's what i'm talking about...........so they play it differently in american casinos?

Pai Gow is a fun game. But like you say there's lots of tie hands. Good game to play if you're looking to kill time and earn points for buffet or dinner. That's what we did in Vegas. We'd cash in $100 and sit there for an hour or so and ask for buffet/dinner tickets.

Sometimes no matter which hand you play you know your luck is down whenever no matter what the dealer seems to be getting the joker wild, two pairs, three pairs, straights, and flushes...even without the joker wild.

I stick to baccarrat myself.

Pai gow poker is not really an asian game. More specifically I haven't seen a lot of chinese being into it. I myself being chinese.

When I was in Las Vegas at Gold Coast, you'd see 10 baccarrat tables and over 90% of the people at all the tables would be asian. A lot of chinese, taiwanese and vietnamese people. The big rollers were taiwanese and vietnamese, with stacks and stacks of black $100 chips. Each time they bet would be no less than $400. The single most bet I've seen was about a $1200 hand. Crazy.

Actually they play both games, at seperate tables.

For those that have never played Pai Gow Poker.

Each player is delt 7 cards.

The idea is to make a 5 card hand and a 2 card hand.
If you beat the house on both hands you win.
If you beat the house on one hand it's a push.

I used to play "Fortune Pai Gow" alot. It's just regular Pai Gow, except with a side bet offered to you. You can bet $1 or more on the side bet, and anything from a straight up to a seven card straight flush with no joker pays a certian amount of odds. Also, if you have $5 or more on your fortune bet, you can win 'envy' money if someone hits four of a kind or more. I always played $5 or more on my fortune bonus. More then a few times I'd hit 4 to 5 straight flushes a night that would pay $250 a piece. Ah, miss the game, but don't miss pissing away my money.

Yeah I tend to like Pai Gow myself. It's one of those games where you can sit down and actually play for awhile before having to go home broke.
