Anybody planning on playing in any NCAA 09 online dynasties?

A couple of friends and myself were going to start up an online dynasty in NCAA 09 sometime soon after it releases in about 3 weeks, and I wouldn't mind to have a couple more like-minded individuals who might want to join in.

We haven't made any plans regarding creating a custom conference or anything like that, so not sure what we're going to do there. But we do like the ability for everyone to pick their own team and be able to do their own thing if they'd like. The current plan is to hopefully get the online dynasty started once someone releases a decent roster set, since the commissioner of the leauge can upload a roster file at creation for everyone to use, so everyone will have the same names.

If anybody would be interested, here's some qualifications we're looking for:

- No kiddies. We're guys in our upper-20's, and we prefer mature players.
- You must play a real game of football. No running money plays, no going for it on 4th down in unrealistic situations, etc. This even goes for when you have to play a computer opponent.
- You must be willing to keep up with the schedule and keep the season going, since everyone has to complete their game and recruiting before everyone can continue to the next week.

Luckily, EA seems to have done a fantastic job on creating this thing, so if anyone doesn't work out, they can be easily replaced at any point in the season or off-season without disrupting the league.

Let me know, if anybody is interested, I'll be creating a section on my personal forums at some point as a discussion site to see what everyone is interested in doing. Thanks.

EDIT:

Here's the discussion forum for the dynasty. I'm using my own site because I don't consider this an Anandtech forum dynasty, and I want the freedom to create multiple threads and have a dedicated place to discuss.

Discussion Forum

When you first click that link, you'll need to register for an account on my forum. I'm suggesting that you use your Live gamertag for a username, but you can use whatever you want. I have to approve all accounts, so give me an hour or two and I'll get you in there.

As of right now, I'm making everybody a part of a membergroup that will only be seeing the dynasty board. I'm guessing everyone doesn't want to see the other boards and crap I have on there, as it's just clutter for you guys. Hell, to be quite frank, I don't want you in my personal sections :p. So, once I approve you, you should be ready to go to post in the dynasty board to discuss stuff.

Any questions, just ask here or there.

We'll go on a first-come, first-serve basis for teams, and I can say for a fact that not I nor my friends will want VT :).

It's quite possible that people will pick teams in different conferences, so there's a chance you'll never play another person, just the CPU. But you'll still be in a league with other people, which I like. Plus, recruiting battles could be interesting :). The commissioner, however, can change non-conference games before the season, so we could always set up player-vs-player matches in those slots.

I'll let you and whomever else will be interested know some more details when I get the section set up on my site in the next couple of days. I imagine that for some people, this online league we'll do will be in addition to a dynasty they'll want to do in single-player, since it'll take a number of days for everyone to play their games and get their recruiting done for a week. However, the commissioner has tools to speed people up, also, but we'll discuss that later.

Also, I should mention that I envision us doing a dynasty for a number of seasons, so hopefully anyone interested will want to stick around for a while :).

To be honest, I'm not that great either :), I just like the social aspect of playing an online dynasty. Also, money plays are typically referred to as such, since every football game always seems to have a play or two that is basically unstoppable due to the AI coding. If plays like these are found, the league will assume that everyone is mature enough not to use them to cheat the system and win games against the CPU or other players.

start a league wear everyone gets subpar teams. like div1aa and we can see who gets the national title first. lol

but i should be good. are we going to try to play more than 1 game a week? i wont be able to pick the game up till like the 26th or so. im on vacation the week it comes out. so i wont have to much play time invested to know what i am doing but im pumped for the dynastys. i may know another person or 2 that would be interested in doing this also.

either that or ill pick rutgers cause they are funny and just get dominated every week. hahah

they allow for a 12 person dynasty right? im sure well get people. do they also allow you to drop out from season to season? im not sure what info has been released on this.

errrrr i guess you should say Xbox or playstation?

I'm game. I'm pretty apathetic about college football, though, so any team works. If we have to choose, I suppose I'm partial to either Rutgers or (ugh) Boston College. NCAA 08 was the first NCAA game I've played, but I'm a seasoned Madden veteran.

I know this is a longshot - but is anyone planning on buying this and Madden? If so, I'm getting 2 copies of Madden 09 so I'd be willing to trade a copy of NCAA 09' now (plus I'd pay for shipping and maybe 5-10 bucks extra), for a sealed copy of Madden 09. And by "now" I mean July 15 when NCAA comes out.

I'm down. I would say I'd go with Washington (alma mater), but they most likely suck. :( I do love playing dynasties in College Football and Basketball.

I was playing on the second difficulty level in the '07 version, I think, so that may give an idea of my "talent".

Ducci, why are you buying two copies of Madden '09? Is one for a Madden collection? Just curious.

Edit: I will be on the 360.

I think I might be interested. I played the 09 demo and it doesn't appear to have the stuttering that 08 gives me sometimes

online dynasties seem cool, but it would be annoying to have to wait for everyone to finish their week before you could play another game. you'd definitely need to find people with the same schedule to make it work well.

That's why I mentioned that I envisioned this as being a fun league that will run concurrently with a dynasty you'd want to do yourself in single-player. This league will not be meant to replace a dynasty where someone wants to play 5 games every day.

As long as people understand that it could, and most likely will be a few days between games, then we'll be fine. It would be nearly impossible to find random people on the internet who all had the same schedule. It's just an inherent flaw with online leagues that's easy to work around if everybody comes in with the same mindset that not everybody has all kinds of free time on their hands.

With this league, I envision setting an artificial limit of somewhere around 3-5 days for people to play their games. Otherwise, the commissioner can advance the week, and any games not played by people are simply simulated by the CPU.

Im in.
FINALLY EA brings dynasties and franchise to online play.
My friends and I have been doing franchises since NBA/Madden 2000 PC via uploaded game logs being parsed on websites etc etc. (we had the best league and site in the world thank you very much!)
Regardless, I'm in for NCAA and Madden once it comes around. I'll take Wisconsin (or Michigan as my #2) for NCAA
I call DIBS on Packers now if a NFL league ever gets going

Usually these leagues you can set to "open schedules" too so that you dont have to wait to advance weeks and such if XYZ didn't play yet. Will be interesting to see how EA handles it.

If I remember correctly, Madden 09 has the "open schedule" as you describe it, but NCAA does not. Also, Madden as one-to-one player trades, which is awesome.

I probably won't run a Madden league, but I may join one if someone starts it.

So I just played the demo. They've polished the game up quite a bit. I'm a fan of the new play-calling screen - bringing back the PS2-style multi-button selection was crucial. I have no idea why it took so long. They've streamlined the controls and while the new in-game menu system gives you all the information you need, I still think beginners would be very intimidated.

I jumped into the mascot thing first - it was retarded.

Oh well, looks like I'm getting this - if for nothing else, than to get in on the dynasty league here. I signed up on your forums as Declivity Man.

Anyone else who signs up for the board to be in the dynasty, can you do like ducci did and tell me the username you signed up as in this thread or via PM here? That's so I'll know who I'm approving. Thanks.

You can be in a total of 5 online dynasties, only one of which can you be the commissioner of.

NCAA 09 comes out in 2 days. If anybody else is interested, let me know. We'll hopefully get this thing started in the next week or two.

Haha wow, I'm an idiot.

Well that leaves me on the sidelines. If anyone takes Penn State you damn well better win it all.
