Anybody pickup a PS3 today?

I know I read that the price drop is this month, but I'm not sure if it starts today.

Anyone planning on jumping into the NEXT-GEN?

You can already get a PS3 slim for $255 (new price is 299). I might wait for it to break 200...or maybe not. I dunno.
 
Already have one, and it's not NEXT-GEN anymore, it's current-gen 😉

I will wait until they <360/PS3> are down around $50 or so <like the Dreamcast was a few years ago> 😀

I have a 100 bucks in Best Buy gift cards. Considering either getting a PS3 or a ZuneHD. I'm really actually torn as to which I want.

I think I'm leaning towards the ZuneHD cause it's not going to turn into the money sync the PS3 is 😛

This. Well I'll give ps3 a little credit and say 2 years ago. Well sometime soon the next gen of videocards will come out and ps3 will become even more obsolete.

Thing is, the next generation of video cards will cost more than the PS3 does. Not everyone is willing to drop 400 bucks for a video card. Knock yourself out, though...

Unfortunately new tech is tied to consoles, which is why besides Crysis graphics are still no better than they were when PS3/360 came out.

You can up the AA and Resolution all you want, but come on, SLI 295's are light years ahead of the RSX but have nothing to show for it.

He's just bitter that all the good games come out on consoles these days and he has to put up with crappy ports that tax his $400 video card for no other reason than it being a bad port.
 
A lot of stories about the new slim PS3 loads slowwer then the old "fat" one. Have heard the new chips are lowwer voltage and load slowwer (lowwer clock?) or the slim has a new slowwer hard drive and even the slim has a different/slow firmware.

Not sure but I always let other be the testers for me. 🙂

The PS3 was never fast to begin with when it came to loading games or movies. But the difference isn't significant between the Slim and Fat. Only a couple of seconds.
