Anybody pick up Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia?

Gonna try it out tonight, haven't had time yet. I really really like the GBA and DS castlevania games, so I am looking forward to it. Shane at 1up loved it

I'm about 50% into it and it has some very nice aspects, the stages and enemies are excellent and the combat is fast and fluid, however I feel the glyph system is overly simplified and not on par with the soul or partner system from DoS/PoR, they basically joined weapons and magic together. Thus far I feel Ecclesia is much more difficult than the other 2 DS Castlevania games.

Definitely recommended if you liked the other two, so far I still think Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin are superior but I'm still addicted to the game and enjoying it a lot, who knows what surprises await though.

I'm prioritizing Order of Ecclesia over Far Cry 2 at the moment so it's definitely a must-have.

Honestly, I'm not feeling this episode. I don't like your attacks are limited by your MP, and the only way to attack is with glyph. WTF is that all about? The magnet thing make the 1st boss fight way too easy. I prefer Dawn of Sorrow.

This is pretty much exactly my take. I don't really care for the fact that they combined weapons and magic. Seems sort of like a shortcut to reduce the amount of items they had to put into the game. But, damn, this game is much harder than the previous DS games. Most of bosses kill me the first time since I don't know their patterns and even some of the areas are tough to get through when you first arrive to them.

Haven't tried it yet but i liked SotN and PoR. Started DoS and got stuck and haven't played it since. I can't figure out wtf I am supposed to do. I'm not even that far into it.

I think I had the same thing happen, just used gamefaqs to move on.

glyph thing sucks ass for sure. i was fighting all these zombies that kep spawning and i ran out of MP...dead in the water until it regens, meanwhile the zombies keep respawning...

I really hope things pick up when I get to Drac's castle because so far I am disappointed in this game so far. The levels are dull as hell and there is quite a lot of "copy and paste" sections in each. The bosses are easy so far but they have such an absurd amount of hit points that it takes a long time to kill though part of that could be because of the glyphs I used. I do like the glyph system and all the combo attacks you can discover but the old school CV fan in me wish the character was a whip only totting Belmont.

I'm not sure how far you guys are, but I thought I remembered some of the reviews hinting that the game starts out somewhat monotonous but after a while it gets much better. Apparently there's a spoiler in the explanation, so I avoided reading the details. 🙂
