Anybody own a cell phone repeater?

KK

Lifer
I just aquired a Wilson 50 dB amplifier, a stealth antenna, a mini-mag antenna, and a yagi antenna. I hooked up the amplifier briefly in my living room running the mini mag antenna outside and the stealth antenna inside. It made my cell phone go from 0-1 bar to 2-max bars inside. I'm thinking I need to install the yagi antenna outside to maximize the reception and hopefully that'll give me max signal all the time inside.

Has anybody here hooked up a similar setup? What were your results?

Do you see a problem with having to use an antenna the size of a laptop to amplify a signal to something that is barely the size of your wallet?

Not sure if he does, but I do.

Not sure if he does, but I do.

What other options are there? Don't say one of those internal antennas either. 🙂

IF you live far enough into the sticks that you need a 50W antennta to get decent reception, may I suggest:

SWITCH PROVIDERS!
USE A LAND LINE!

The cost of all those antennas would probably rival 1 years worth of local phone service.

I would recommend switch providers or maybe if you need I'm guessing Nextel, get another provider so get two phones possibly. Something, how much did you spend on all the antennas?

I have tried every possible carrier except nextel and verizon. I doubt they will work either as we kinda live on a hill and the tower is on the other side. Sprint worked the best out of the others.
