a very basic question.

when i had to "set up" my java for the command prompt, i had to do the

set path=C:\Program Files\.....\bin;%path%

but what i accidently did was to forget the ";" after the bin so when i typed in "echo %path%" it showed me : C:\Program Files\.....\binC:\Win....

meaning that the path i tried to set it to merged in together with the one after it, because i dismissed the semi colon the first time, can i somehow remove a path? if so, how?

all help appreciated!

Just set the path variable again... it will overwrite the old one...

the set path doesnt seem to save , i just ran cmd again and i typed in echo %path% and the path i had set it to last time has disappeared.

do i have to type this in each time i run in cmd?? anyway i can make it memorize it?

does it have anything to do with the fact that i didnt install the java2sdk into the C: drive and i put it in Program Files\Java folder?

Windows has the concept of local and global environment variables, so setting the path in one environment won't propagate to the other. You'll need to go to your system properties as ndee said in order to have it affect all.
