Hi all,

If anybody got time check out the set-up that we're planning for some new houses.

Check out the image for the room layout, and what we have in mind in terms of the setup.

Picture of the Room

Front Speakers: 4-5 ft off the ground
Mid Speakers: 5-6 ft off the ground
Rear Speakers: 6-7 ft off the ground
Subwoofer: Front Left corner under the speaker.

Here's a couple packages that we have created.

Upgrade 1
Receiver: Sony STR-DE697
Speakers: Infinity ERS 210
Subwoofer: Infinity PS-8

Upgrade 2
Receiver:Onkyo TX-SR702
Speakers: Polk Audio RC85i
Subwoofer: Polk Audio PSW404

Upgrade 3
Receiver: Denon AVR-3805
Speakers: Boston Acoustics DSi460
Subwoofer: Boston Acoustics PV500

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Tips?
Guys who are doing electrical are very skilled, so complex installs are not a problem.

Thanks in advance!

try avsforum.com they have a lot of entertainment system gurus over there.

 hometheaterforum too.

Come back to Anandtech when you want to put some comptuers in those houses 😉

For one, you don't want the surround side speakers to be a different distance from the center of the listeners. You want the listeners to be in between the two speakers.. not one speaker 5 feet away and the other 10 feet away.

Ideal setup

Looks like you don't have a center in your diagram?

Oh, and don't worry about matching the sub to the speakers. Timbre matching is important for the fronts, but it doesn't matter as much for surrounds in HT usage. Brand matching for subs doesn't really matter.

I have no idea on in-wall speakers. Did they request them to be in-walls?

Pioneer 1014 is a great receiver for the money. I think they just came out with the 1015 too, more expensive though.

EDIT: here's a fixed link to the polk sub.

If you really want to knock their socks off for that pricerange, an SVS PB-10 will blow away just about any sub under $500 (unless you get a DIY one).

another vote for avsforum...we'll help ya over there..dont like to steal our business by posting about home theater here  but have a $$$ figure in mind because we'll give u plenty of options
