A psychiatrist on "A Current Affair" said that they should've left that little monster in the classroom? What if she injured herself you dumass? Then there would be a bigger lawsuit by the mother.

The mother just so convieniently was not able to come to school right away. I wonder why? Maybe a setup?

Nah...probably waiting on that check or had to see the ending of Days of our Lives.

I agree with Skoorb. Handcuffs were not appropriate. What she needed was a good ass-whoopin to the BEhind.
Uhhhh. OK. This can be easily turned around. Conservatives seek to indoctrinate children with the concepts of war, bigotry etc. If Liberals create these kids, Conservatives create skinheads.

This has nothing to do with political inclinations. Apparently the kid has a behavioral disorder. There are people who have no idea what the proper way too act in society is. This isn't necessarily due to the parents, its mainly due to the fact that their brain is malfunctioning.

The problem with your argument is you have no proof that conservatives create skinheads. But it's quit clear that liberal thinking has blurred right and wrong and the way we discipline.

Is it just me or is all of the weird articles like this coming out of Florida these day?

Girl gets suspended for doing Cart Wheels during recess.
Boy gets handcuffed for drawing a stick figure with a knife in his back.

Pretty much all of the weird stories, coming out of schools or otherwise, have all been coming out of Florida. Lately they've been reaffirming my beliefs that Florida is one fvcked up state.

If my daughter was acting like that I would not have a problem with the cuffs.

Of course she doesn't act like that. Until the time comes that she can fully see and understand why you don't act like that the knowledge that her happiness is dependent on her behaviour and attitude will have to do.

Yes she gets spanked every once in a great while and on a couple occasions her room has been cleaned down to just the bed, clothes, and school books. There was a while shortly after she was put into general population (school) that these things and other disciplinary techniques were used more often. It didn't take long for her to realize that acting the way other kids did would not fly in my household or when she was anywhere else for that matter.

I agree. ANyone who says this day and age is more civilized then the 50's is a complete moron.

Kids could get discipline from their parents without having to worry about they law.
Kids could duke it out in the school yard after school without drawing a gun.
Kids could get discipline from the teachers too, now its all lawsuits
You could flip someone off on the freeway without worrying about them pulling a gun.

I could go on and on. I agree with Skoorb, GT and the others here. I've talked about it in a lot of other threads. 90% of whats wrong with America is parenting, laziness in their responsibilities as parents and definetely lack of discipline. Parents should never be afraid to raise a hand to their kids, those that "discipline" without that are also moron's. But thats just my opinion. I can guarentee that a kid raised properly, and disciplined properly is going to turn out better then one that doesn't get any discipline at all. Parents this day and age amaze me.

funny how nobody has brought this up, so i will

If my kid was in that class and i saw that video, I would pull her/him out of that school and put my kid in another where the teachers time and efforts are in teaching not running a juvie hall.

It all starts with the parents/family. This may not be true for older kids who have external forces governing their actions, but children that young are influenced majorly by the family. It always pisses me off when I see parents take extremes in disciplining their children--either ignoring them or yelling/hitting them at the stupidest/most minute things.

I guess I'm of conservative mind when it comes to child-rearing. If I had kids who behaved as this 5 year old did, I would be apologizing to the school and the teacher for her behavior...not suing the police. Behavioral problems or not, someone who's 5 should know that hitting someone is not a "nice thing to do," which leads me to believe that her parent(s) haven't taken the time to explain what's right, wrong, and what will result in disciplinary action. The fact that the mother didn't come to the school immediately shows that her priorities don't really include her daughter and her daughter's actions.

If I ever have kids and they pull something like this, I would consider myself a failure as a parent.
