Anybody know what month .13 Micron Athlon Coming out?

I am looking to upgrade, but I want to wait for the .13 micron processors to come out. Best I can get is 2nd quarter 2002, does that mean March or May! Depends on how long I am going to wait and if I am going to buy a new processor before then.

Its a pain I cant decide to wait for thoroughbred or barton (.13+soi) the first released versions should be pretty decent chips.

Prolly march-may time frame. I wouldn't wait for T-Bred though, I doubt you need more speed than the Athlon XP allready provides.

I think Q1 of this year is what I heard as well. I'm almost thinking of skipping Thoroughbred and Barton completely and waiting for Hammer (if I can save up the $$$).

An existing 266 supporting motherboard will support the remaining processors won't it, with the except of the hammer of course...

Muerto, when is the Hammer suppose to be released? I have a pre-XP Althon 1.33GHz to upgrade. Actually the computers will rotate, mine to the wife, wife's to the kids. The kids are on a K6 AMD 200MMX. Even the Scooby Doo software requires a 233 or better.

I can wait to upgrade (both time wise or money wise) or I can buy today. I know there is always something better just around the corner.

Wait or not to wait?

More like April/May. They said 2nd half.

Like everyone else is saying..probably around April or May we'll see them. Then you have to add on another month or two for prices to come down to a reasonable level.

Just upgrade now

Well, the current boards I believe should be able to run .13 because they are still going to be socket A.... And bus speed should be the same.. however there is also AGP 8x coming out soon 😀

Do not forget though...with a drop in size, comes a drop in the voltage range acceptable to the chip. Thats where the motherboards will have to be able to adapt to the new processors.

No lower voltage...no upgrade path for .13

I heard March/April. For me sooner is better as I'm gonna give the .13s a hard stare.

AGP 8x is about as meaningful as 128 MB video cards at this point.
