Anybody know of any good dual AGP/PCI Express mobos?

The CPU in my son's gaming rig died and I would like to upgrade the mobo/CPU at this point while keeping the current AGP video card. Would also like to have ability to upgrade to a PCI Express video card in the future.

The ASRock mobo was favorably reviewed at AT in September.

Any ideas other than the aforementioned mobo?

I believe BioStar released one awhile back, but it was a different setup. It had full PCI-e capability, but the AGP was severely crippled (I think it was only 1x).

Other than that, I'm not aware of any that have ever been produced.

http://www.asrock.com/product/775Dual-880Pro.htm - Also ASRock but with a VIA chipset that supports 8x agp and x16 pci-e. I have no used this board so I can't say much more about it. For use with an intel lga775 socket.
http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=206&model=584&modelmenu=1 - This is an Asus board also using a VIA chipset. Says it has 8x agp and pci-e x16 running at x4 speed. Don't know whats up with that. I think Albatron also might make one and there are several models that use Intel 915 based chipsets.

Good luck!

You won't see any more Dual AGP/PCIe mobos, methinks, since Nvidia owns ULi and Nvidia favors PCIe.

There will be a few more released in a few months. I cannot remember who else is making them, it could be Gigabyte or ABIT; but my memory is fuzzy. Try to find some press releases.

Are you sure about that? I know I remember reading about other companies' plans to release similar AGP/PCI-E motherboards (including Gigabyte and Abit if my memory serves me correctly), but this was almost a year ago that I was reading about this. It seems to me that if ASRock could bring their board to market in September, anyone else who was working on a similar board probably should have released it by this point (7 months later). The AGP market is drying up by the day, and pretty much anyone who needs an AGP 939 board, has probably already bought the ASRock board. I just can't see anyone else releasing a similar board at this point in the game, especially if they'd end up charging more for it than the ASRock... Personally I'm guessing that any other companies who might have been working on such a board last year, have given up the idea at this point.

Since the Asrock has been around for some time any early problems should be fixed and the board has gotten good reviews. Why get another one?

As long as you do not want to overclock higher than FSB=274, the Asrock motherboard is very good.
