I get many emails and periodically backup the Outlook Express .dbx data files to CDR. Does anybody know if there is a reader for these files other than OE? If I want to see these files I must copy them to a a hard drive where they can be read AND written. I can't simply point the OE datafile location to the CDR where I have copied them, OE won't let me do it. I just want a simple .dbx reader that will let me view there files with having to bother to copy them to a hard drive to search for something already on CD and which I don't wish to change in any way.

The only thing that comes close is DBXtract. You would extract all the messages and burn them to a CD. So on your CD, you would have a .dbx file and numerous .eml files each representing an email.

Hey Pretty Cool this is exactly what I was looking for. Even in you don't have Outlook Express on a machine you can use any text editor to display the EML files (without binary attachments of course). Another Plus, I can use Windows Search (Find) for specific text in the archived EML files. Extracting 890 messages to a DirectCD CDR took only about three minutes. Works like a champ. Now if he would build the date into the subject I would be ecstatic. Thanks again.
