Anybody know of a way to use a Playstation 2 on my Dell 2005FPW?

If your video card has a composite input, you could just plug it directly into your video card.

I thought they were outputs ...

I'm pretty sure some of the AIW cards had component inputs. Or inputs of some kind. I don't know.

Just plug either composite or S video into it. You will of course need sound too which the 2005FPW does not provide.

Hmm. I always thought that they used dongles.

And if he's using a 2005FPw, he doesn't need the video card. There's an S-Video port on the back of the monitor. On the green lights next to the control buttons, VGA = 1, DVI = 2, S-Video = 3, and Composite = 4

DVI + S-Video on PBP = :D

What optical cable would I need to connect the PS2 to my Logitech Z-680s? I heard I need an optical cable but which one?

How about an RCA -> headphone adapter?

PS2 has a TOSlink port on the back of the unit, pretty close to the A/V Multi-out. It has a little flip lid on top of it that flips in when you plug the cable into it.

Where can I find the VD-Z3 Component to VGA Transcoder?

I looked on google/froogle, but I can't find a vendor that sells it.

EDIT: Composite vs. Component

Damn, got those confused again. I've been trying hard to remember which one is which but it's hard... very hard :(

I tried doing this with S-Video and the picture looked horrible. I'm not sure if it was because of the difference between the monitor's resolution and the PS2 resolution, but everything was very pixelated and blurry. Pretty much unplayable. Let me know if it works for you as I would love to do this also. Maybe I did something wrong.

It's REALLY not worth it do try it! I wasted money on a Component-to-VGA adaptor for hooking my PS2 to my 2001FP. Picture doesn't look any better than it does just using s-video.

For the video, the easiest way is to use Composite (single yellow RCA connector) or S-Video. A composite cable comes with the PS2 stock, a new one (either of them) is $15 retail. The 2001FP has both inputs, and it seems like the 2005FPW has them also. S-Video appears to be recommended over composite.

This is the easiest answer, RCA female (red/white) to 1/8" headphone female. My Z3s came with one. You don't need optical.
