Anybody know if a concealed carry permit will meet the requirements to fly? UPDATE

UPDATE

Problem solved, they found my license. Seems it fell inside the cabinet they put it in, they had to pull all the drawers out to find it. They've promised to never take it again. 😀

/UPDATE

Freaking postal facility I'm in this week lost my driver's license. I'm nowhere near home (either my current home or the state that issued my license). I flew here, but now I'm kind of in a bind. I do have a concealed carry permit (with my picture), think that will get me on a plane?

Worst part is there's no way in hell I'll pass a vision test the way my eyes are right now so if I'm forced to get a new ID it's not going to be a driver's license. 🙁 I really needed that license to last until it expired. I don't normally drive but some days I can see well enough to be OK.

Bloody freaking hell.

you should be able to get the license reissued without renewing it. i did that just for a new address when i moved

as far as flying, you'll probably need 2 forms of ID if you have no picture ID

i looked this up for another thread a few weeks ago, check the web site for your airline. or just call your airline and tell them the story and see what they say

good luck

Damn that sucks. I ran into that last year. I lost my own effing license and did not realize till I was at the gate.
I went back and told the ticket agents, and they marked my boarding pass. I got the full screening, and the lack of license was not an issue. I had plenty of supporting docs to satisfy them, and likely you do too.
ironically, I was being flown out to retreive a tractor trailer rig😛

Luckily, it was in the same state, and I got a replacement at the DMV there🙂

The license was issued in Oregon, I'm in Cleveland, OH. I no longer live at the address on the license. Additionally Oregon requires you show up & get a new picture taken (had my wallet stolen once, been through it before). On top of all that my license expires in June anyway.

Wouldn't ID requirements be an FAA thing not the airline? At this point I have no return flight booked, but I'm going to have to go home at some point.

Hmmm...a one way ticket and no ID... what's that look like? 🙂

Another vote for calling the airline and see what they say.

<knocking on wood in hopes I never have this happen.>

oh, yeah, that'll be a problem for the license

http://www.tsa.gov/public/interapp/editorial/editorial_1044.xml

so you want a paper ticket, not an e-ticket. the e-ticket requires a photo id, but with a paper ticket you can go with 2 non-photo ID's
If you have a paper ticket for a domestic flight, passengers age 18 and over must present one form of photo identification issued by a local state or federal government agency (e.g.: passport/drivers license/military ID), or two forms of non-photo identification, one of which must have been issued by a state or federal agency (e.g.: U.S. social security card).
do you have a passport that someone could mail to you?

Isnt the gun permit issued from a state or federal agency?

In Oregon permits are issued county by county. So my permit says "Washington County, Oregon" on it, & issued by the local sheriff.

So you can't see well enough to drive, but can see well enough to carry a concealed weapon? That makes a lot of sense.

 Smartass.

I had a cornea transplant 6 months ago. Both my license and my concealed carry permit were issued LONG before that.

They took my photo credit cards and all the other stuff I could drag out, professional licenses, etc.
The security folks seemed quite nonplussed about it, really. It was a one way flight too.

If he shoots at you, just fall to the ground and play dead. He'll leave you alone, I guess because he's too blind to know you are faking!

heh I thought the same thing master did... why are you carrying on the plane if your vision is impaired anyway ? Can it not be stowed ? Serious question.

you can't carry on a plane with a regular concealed carry permit.

He's not carrying on the plane. He's wondering if his cc permit counts as a form of identification. Just because he has the permit with him doesn't mean he is carrying anything. Seriously, do you only have your drivers license on you when you drive?

oops, didn't read carefully.

Why not just go to the DMV and say you lost it? They replace it and don't make you take any tests over since it's not a renewal. My brother loses his several times a year and he is never retested on anything.
