Anybody know how to change the START button icon for Windows 9X, Win ME???

Hello all,

I have seen a couple of computers that had the windows icon on the start button being something else. For Example the superman logo, buffalo bills logo, and also the IE's icon. If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about....please help. Thanks.

Did anyone get hook99 to work??? I get a DLL error when trying to set it up.

It works fine for me (Win 2000). I just unzipped it into it's own folder and ran hook99.exe...I can't figure out what the other application does.

What error are you getting?

Hook99.ocx file is where I am having problems. Ugh...all this for a simple cosmetic change on my system. I'm thinking about installing Win ME. I have the disk but since I like my Win98SE, I never upgraded. Maybe it's time.

Hmm...that's really strange. I noticed that a new version of the software was just put up today, it's available here. I guess you could also try contacting the author since he's still updating it...other than that I don't know what to tell you. 🙁

I don't know about the image, but i managed to hex edit explorer.exe so my start bar now says "Stop"

I couldn't think of anything better.
