Last year when we bought our house we bought a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator with the ice bin in the door. About a month after the warranty ran out the ice maker stopped making ice. I replaced the ice maker unit itself but it's still not making ice. I know it's cycling, I've seen it happen, but its not getting water. I've used a hair dryer to try to thaw out the delivery tube but that didn't work either. The only other thing I can think of is the water valve must be shot but the water dispenser in the door works fine. From the research I've done I found that this is the water valve that is required but it looks like it controls both the ice maker and dispenser flow. Does anybody have any ideas?

I have good intel that the light bulb does, in fact, turn when the door is closed.

It's like magic, or some shit.

From the picture you linked it looks like that valve is controlled electronically so if it were me I would try to find out what triggers it to deliver water to the ice maker. It is probably just a simple open close circuit that you could use a meter to see if the signel is being sent. It may just be a sensor that needs replacing.

Does the water dispenser work? Mine quit working once and I removed/drained/replaced the filter and it started working again.

The water supply has a separate solenoid valve for each system (ice & water to the door) It sounds like the ice solenoid is bad. If you can get to the valve reverse the wires from one valve to the other close the door and press for water see if you ice maker gets full.
