Just moved into a new house and I'm having a hard time getting hot water. I can see the blue flame inside the water heater so I know it is lit and I have the Temperature knob set to "B" which is in between the A, B, and C C being the hottest.

What am I doing wrong? I've ran the water for like 5 mins on hot and not even a remote change in temp.

I went through something like this a loooonnnggg time ago. IIRC there was a sensor near the pilot that didn't think the pilot was lit (when it was) so it wouldn't fire up the main burner. Replaced it and it worked.

Cool. Thanks. Maybe that's what it is. I was able to get a hold of the plumber guy through an answering service and he is on his way over. Now I'll sound like an expert water heater guy when I tell him "it's probably the sensor" ....

Are you getting hot water anywhere in the house? When we moved in, the shower only had cold water and it was a problem with the faucet.

That's a good point. I'm kicking myself now because the guy just left and everything seemed to work ok, but that was only when I turned on the guest bathroom shower. Last night, I couldnt get warm water out of the master bedroom shower. Doh...
