I'm looking to buy this Kingwin Absolute Power 600Watt for my mom's computer.

Her specs:

4800+ @ 2.75ghz,, (goes to 2.85 at 1.48 but thats risky without water i figured)

Wrong forum. Power supply stuff usually goes under Cases & Cooling.

Kingwin isn't necessarily a household name for PSUs. They have some decent cases (especially their <perhaps discontinued> aluminum units) but their PSUs are about average as far as aftermarket units are concerned. 600W is also quite a bit for such a modest machine. As long as it is a quality PSU and has plenty of +12v juice, 400W is probably enough for that system.

As for that x1900XT, I'm thinking it's still overkill for that Dell 30".
 
Yeah, even a Dell 30" Display running at full res only needs a card around 7600GS level (maybe not even that) for photoshop and other 2D work. 1900XT is very overkill if she does not play games (and most moms don't 😉). As for the PSU look for a unit with at least 30A on the +12V rail or dual +12V rails with at least 16A each. A heavily overclocked system like that running a very high end GFX card needs some good power to be stable.

Unless you can get that Kingwin for a really good price, I would check out some other brands like Fortron, Enermax, Sparkle, Antec, and the like. Good PSUs from them usually run around $70 for something to power that system, and IMO it's a very good investment.
 
check out the enermax liberty 400w, the enhance 5140gh, the seasonic s12 430w or the 500w brothers of those if you feel you need more headroom. All are very good psus and will serve you well!

That's exactly it, they need "some good power," not "a huge amount of power." IMO probably 20-22A would be sufficient. Heck, I'm running my gaming rig, an overclocked Opteron with an overclocked 7900GT on a 270W Enermax with 16A on the +12v and it's been running great month after month.

I think the Enhance ENP-5140GH would be a great choice for both price and power. It will sustain 28A combined on the two +12v rails all day long under any heat conditions without wavering, plus you can pick it up for $56.

I'm guessing you guys didn't read the part about me getting the x1900xt for 250 like a months ago.. anyhow,, I'm never going to no 7900s because the AF is a big deal to me.

And i'm just asking about the powersupply's quality. i saw that seasonic 600watt one but it's like 150 bux.
 
The 400W Enhance is good enough to power your mom's system as spec'd, and then some.
