I have lived in Phoenix for 40 years and have never seen anything like that. I live in North Scottsdale, now, and that storm was amazing. I counted around 4 to 8 lightening flashes per second from where I was standing, and the thunder was one long continuous roll that lasted about 30 to 45 minutes, without even an instant of quiet, punctuated only by loud booms when strikes would hit nearby. It was like watchng a strobe light in a tunnel underneath a passing train for more than 30-45 minutes.
The OP's video, looks like one I tried to take, but like mine, it only shows about half as many flashes as there actually were, since it seems to only pick them up when the brightness exceds a certain level.
