I have lived in Phoenix for 40 years and have never seen anything like that. I live in North Scottsdale, now, and that storm was amazing. I counted around 4 to 8 lightening flashes per second from where I was standing, and the thunder was one long continuous roll that lasted about 30 to 45 minutes, without even an instant of quiet, punctuated only by loud booms when strikes would hit nearby. It was like watchng a strobe light in a tunnel underneath a passing train for more than 30-45 minutes.

The OP's video, looks like one I tried to take, but like mine, it only shows about half as many flashes as there actually were, since it seems to only pick them up when the brightness exceds a certain level.

Car crunch 1

Car crunch 2

That's on ASU's campus right by the mechanical engineering machine shop. I parked there all the time. You aren't supposed to park there but everybody did for dropping off metal at the shop. Because the car was parked illegally I'm pretty sure that ASU won't pay anything for the damage and I wouldn't be surprised if they got a parking ticket too.

A friend's car got hit pretty badly too... This is her Focus. It may not be totaled, the front glass is shattered badly and the hood is banged up though.

And the car next to hers was even worse off. The parking shelter got torn up pretty badly and came down on a few cars.
