I know a couple of guys who are working there....they are going through a layoff right now - about 1000 people...my friend was asked to leave by April 24th...they are moving a lot of the work to China.

I know about the layoff. What did your friends do? Do you know what work they're moving to China?

They work in BT/IT (?) - I believe they are moving both IT as well as business intelligence overseas - apparently there was some discussion on whether to move only IT first. My friends are contractors so this isn't particularly unusual. They are looking for different contracts now.
