Im waitin to order an infocus projector until i get my PVR done. DVI to projector, and ill use the comp to play dvds. anyone use a homemade pvr? If so, what kind? If its mythtv, how hard is it to setup. How solid is it? What kinda hardware shoud i get?

thanks tons!

I have 3 HTPCs in my house. Bedroom just for music (for now) on a 15" LCD, game room for DVDs, music, and SageTV PVR on a 42" plasma, home theater room for DVDs, games, music, and a remote client for SageTV on a DLP projector.

I actually couldn't be happier with SageTV. It just works - I haven't been on their site for months because it's so flawless for me, though I was thinking the other day I should check for updates. I have a 250GB media drive just for the MPG files. I use 3 Happauge PVR-250s in the PC so I can watch/record 3 channels at once.

Ask if you have any other questions.

I've got MythTV installed in my PVR. It was a huge pain in the butt to setup, but since then, it's been working great. Had it stable for about 1-2 months now but I do most of my interfacing through the web interface and then stream the content to my PC when I feel like watching. The TV interface always works great. I built a simple IR blaster for it to control my satellite also. No complaints. Works awesome!

BTW - I looked at MythTV and it looked real good, but ultimately went with SageTV because I wanted the flexibility of running Windows. I decided against BeyondTV because it didn't have multi-tuner support at the time, nor the ability to stream realtime to a client through the network.

Which Hauppauge PVR-250's are you using?

Also are they the Amity or Roslyn chipset?

They are listed as 'Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II' in my Device Manager. I wasn't aware of multiple chipsets, so not sure if I can answer that. They came with the silver remotes if that helps.
