I haven't played in years.

But a couple of friends are interested in playing because they like the computer games (Baldures Gate II, NWN, etc.). So I said that I used to play (have a ton of books) and would run a campaign for them. Thought it would be fun for old times sake anyways. We are going to start in winter break. This gives me a several months to make a good one.

Problem is I have never been a DM, only a player.

I bought some of the new books for 3rd edition (Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, Monster Manual, Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting). I want to do it in the Forgotten Realms world.

Anyway, my question is, is there a good website or something that could help me organize myself? I don't quite know where to start as I have never done it before. I have some ideas and whatnot but some help would be nice :)

Also, any personal tips would be great:)

Thanks.

Nope. I like having a life :)

Actually, I am playing Neverwinter Nights an hour or two a night, which is as close as you can get to the game without having to sit next to fat pimply faced "Londor the Level 8 fighter/wizard with a +2 vorpal sword" for 5 hours ;)

Not true about the sex thing. I hadn't played RPG's in awhile, and now that I'm getting laid on a almost daily basis, I want to pick up playing the Star Trek RPG we created.

I've played under the first, second and third edition rules of D&D/AD&D. I didn't like the third edition rules at first, but I really like them now.

Wizards of the Coast

The 3rd Edition

I am partial to playing Elf Ranger characters with high dexterity scores...something along the lines of Legolas in LOTR.

Once you've had sex, you kinda lose interest.

Not really. Once you've had a female half-elf with 18 Dexterity and 18 Charisma wearing chainmail and carrying a +4 bullwhip tie you to an altar in a demon princes lair and roll a 20-sided die across your naked chest, you'll never be satisfied with a real girl.

:p

I still played after I had sex. I always preffered sae but I couldn't always get it.

I have not played in a long, long time. Our DM was the only reason I kept playing. He would create the world as we went along. The books were just for reference.

In 7th grade. It was not all it's cracked up to be. Baldur's Gate was much more fun

Well I haven't, and probably won't anytime soon :p

Everybody here is no fun :p:) (cept' mithrandir2001 who actually responded).

Actually, part of the reason that I want to run a campaign is that I want to try my hand at short stories. I figure if I can create a awesome world for my friends to play in, it would be good practice for writing fiction. They are similar in some respects, if you do it properly and put effort into it.

But I guess everybody just has to make fun :p;):)

The best practice for writing is writing. Trust me.
