Anybody here know how to train to do a split?

1. Tie left ankle to light pole
2. Tie right ankle to car bumper
3. Have trusted friend gently push on gas pedal a little further each day
4. After one week, you'll be as limber as a rubber band or dead
5. Profit!
 
I'm willing to make a bet i'm the most unlimber person on these forums. Sheesh, I can't even come close to touching my toes, much less doing splits.
 
put your foot on the highest thing you can while still keeping your leg straight (table, chair, whatever).

once you are comfortable with that, put a brick on top of it and see if you can still do it.

keep going higher and higher.

 
When I was studying martial arts, we did some stretches that result in immediate increases in flexibility.

Stretch #1: Butterfly Stretch
part 1 Do a normal butterfly stretch
part 2. Have your partner put most or all of his weight on your knees

Stretch #2: Touch your toes stretch
part 1 Sit down, stick your legs out and try to touch your toes.
part 2. Have your partner put most or all of his weight on your shoulderblades.

While very painful, they can really increase your flexibility quickly or put you ion traction if your partner is a dumbass...
