Anybody here in the coin landromat business??

Any comments about how to start up this kind of business? How does one do a market survey to see if it can be achieved in my area? What could be some of the problems other than some undesirable people causing vandalism, jamming the coin boxes, attempt to use conterfeit $$ at the change box...??

If you don't have someone actually in the store I'd say vandalism. There're 2 laundromats around my place, one is unmanned and the 1/2 washes/dryers there are not working. It's like playing the lottery to find out which one actually works.

True... I wish the place I went to did that. Sometimes you'd load up a dryer and set it running for an hour only to find that it doesn't produce any heat to dry the clothes. 🙁

I knew someone who did it, suppose it was a good enough business, in that area. He was constantly fixing the machines & dryers; between what people do to them and the workhorse nature of them, they need a lot of attention - you'd certainly have to be more than a bit of a handyman. It also needed constant cleaning; people are pigs. He didn't have anyone watching over the place, but did have a fake security camera. I'm not aware of anything bad having happened.

There are a bunch of place on the 'net that talk about this, like coinlaundry.org . Use google to check them out. Lots of beginning real estate investors buy laundromats as investment.
