my brother works for BB they get lots of them in returns (maybe quality control is bad) he has one and it seems to be running ok for 9 months. That doesn't say much though. It's a really cheap brand though

wtf, did you just spend like $2k randomly without any research or plans at all?

Go get your Denon 5805 for your $300 speakers then :p

When I worked at BB, Insignias were our most returned TV. It's the BB store brand for crying out loud.

Returned for what? I got the 24" TV today and after realizing that it doesn't fit (also looks damaged) I had my friend pick up the 20" that was discounted today as well so that I can return this defective and not fitting TV tomorrow. The 24" tv is $120 and it comes with a $20 MIR, while this 20" TV I'm going to be getting later from my friend is $90 with a $35 MIR making the 24" TV $100 and the 20" $54...

BB offered my friend the 'extended warranty plan" for $10, I told him no, will I regret this? Considering that it's 1/5 the price of the TV after rebate, I considered otherwise since my laptop's waranty is like $100-$300 for a $2500 machine.. Dad says that if the price of the warranty is over 3% of the product's initial value and is over $100, it isn't worth it, if it's under $100, isn't worth it at all.

I've had a 26" widescreen HDTV for a year and a half without any problems whatsoever. Luck of the draw maybe, but I doubt it. Most electronics are made by a small number of companies anyhow, store brand in most cases simply means remove the $200 name badge. That coupled with the fact that electronic failures (as in the failure of any single electronic component) are an entirely random occurence (from a probability theory class in my college math major...), meaning with the same part one may fail immediately and one may last 30 years or more, means it's not often worth paying the premium for name brands, unless there is a feature you can't get elsewhere.
