They're not supposed to be sold until 6pm local times, so I'm guessing anyone wanting one is still in line.

I guess I am starting to get old since I only use my phone for making calls. And spending that much on a phone?!

I guess its time to get out my cane and chase Whoseyerdaddy off my lawn

if the iphone ever got down to 199/299 i think i would purchase one, but i have learned never ever buy the first release of an apple product. Usually the first releases always have glitches. I'll wait till rev 2 or 3.

The ones lining up probably couldn't respond :) Unless they took their laptop there with a solar panel and hooked up to an unsecured wifi ap... but maybe they'll get prosecuted for the illegal use of other people's ap.

-the iphone is semi cool, but with no a2dp, and that home button cycle to navigate with sounds awful.

I'm waiting for the next revision - 3G support & Bluetooth GPS support for Google Maps. I'm perfectly content to let the early adopters work out all the bugs and issues :D

I believe all of the Apple stores have unsecured wifi. And heck, if they have one of those snazzy new Santa Rosa-based MacBook Pros, then they're probably getting 5 hours of battery life ;)

Sorry, but no way I'm paying $600 for a phone. And only 4-8GB of memory? Please.

Yeah I don't know why they didn't put A2DP in, considering it's "the best iPod ever made". If the next iPod is a touchscreen like the iPhone then they'll probably put A2DP in that and upgrade the iPhone around the same time. Maybe they'll release some white Bluetooth headsets too ;)

This phone is releasing 2 years too late. Not even 3G. I will take N95 anytime for 6 bills.

I have to walk by the little fools at the mac store on Michigan Ave on my way to work. $600 for a glitchy first-gen product? "Hmm...what could possibly make this deal better? I know! I'll wait in line for 30 hours just to get one!"

Funny, that mac store. they pride themselves that they're so green with the roof lawn that they have, and their ecofriendly ways. Of course, they keep the doors open blasting the AC constantly. ~20 feet from the doors (at the bus stop) the air temp is easily 5-10 degrees cooler than ambient outdoor temp.
Morons.
/end pointless mac rant. (I have much respect for their company though--no one bilks ill-informed brainless little emos of their money nearly as well as Steve Jobs does. Kudos to him )

on the same page. Not have 3G is just like what? Who cares? I won't ever go for style again with a phone. I want the functionality to be flawless.

So far it looks like 95% perfect. They need 3G, they need the option of using a Bluetooth GPS with Google Maps (I prefer Gmaps to any GPS Nav system), and they need to release software updates for the various small concerns (jumping to contacts by letter instead of scrolling and such things). Revision 2 should be the ticket, I hope. A2DP would be nice but isn't a dealbreaker for me. But come on, even my Motorola Q has EVDO and A2DP and those have been out for over a year. As far as their excuses about not putting in 3G, even the GSM Razer has 3G:

Oh well. I had enough problems with my MacBook that I'll never buy first-gen hardware from ANYONE ever again. Yay for early adopters!

5 hours is nothing when people are lining up for days... maybe they are running a long extension cord from the store :)

Yeah let's spend 500-600 bucks on a phone, where it's groundbreaking feature is text voicemail. There's money well spent! There's nothing revolutionary about this phone - most of it's features are found in already released phones, and the ones that aren't, will be soon enough.

I'll wait a couple years when it's free and has 3G.
