Anybody here a fan of the Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle, Zack Mckraken or the Grim Fandango series?

I was looking for a CD that I needed when i came across a CD I bought with all the old Monkey Island titles on it.
I loved that game and the kooky humor those guys had. This was one of the few games i couldnt wait to have the next game in the series come out.

Sadly a visit to their website doesnt indicate they will be makign any more of these anytime soon if at all.

Yup, those were some great games. And the Indiana Jones series as well. Lucas Arts use to make great games

You left out a few gems - Labyrinth, The Dig, and the one about the motorcycle guy...forget the name of that now.
The last Monkey Island left me disappointed the way the interface was changed.

Seems most manufacturers have given up on making those kind of adventure games. The Longest Journey was pretty sharp, but it didn't have the witty script that the LucasFilm games had.

Maniac Mansion is awesome. After I take the FE Exam on Saturday, I'm gonna break out the diskette and play it again...

I LOVED those games, although I rarely played any of them to the end. I might try to find a few tonite when I get home, I'm sure they should be emulated for the PC.

I have'nt played it yet but I think that Grim Fandango game was in the same vein as the Lucasfilm adventure games.

Yeah, Grim Fandango was definitely part of the group. That game was fantastic in every respect.

maniac mansion...

I can only finish the game with bernard in the team. it is really hard puzzle.
Also, if you have Days of tentacle, you can play maniac mansion..

Now, days of tentacle is also hard, but it is definitely funny.

Oh yeah Loom was different. As a singer with excellent tonal skills, I found it too easy, and I always suspected if you weren't musical it could get very old very quickly clicking random spots on the Distaff trying to get the right pattern.

I am currently playing The Curse of Monkey Island.

Does that count?

I am also trying to get my hands on The Longest Journey.. which many people say is one of the greatest adventure games of all time.

anyone remember that old Zorro game from the c64, you had to solve all of these different puzzles. It was pretty cool.

Which version of Maniac Mansion had the best graphics, C64, Nintendo, etc..? Better yet was there ever a graphical rebuild of Maniac Mansion?Zak McKraken?

(MI) I love how Stan just shows up when you least expect it. :D

How games have changed. sigh. Back in the old days, you could actually get personal responses from the game designers. I think I've got some letter from Steve Purcell (Sam and Max fame) stashed away someplace.

Nobody played Leisure Suit Larry? I remember the 'adult' protection on that... sometimes it took me an hour to guess the correct answers so i could play in adult mode. :p

Funcom makes it. The Longest Journey is probably my favorite game of all time. I still play it once in awhile, mainly when i'm sick and in bed.

for anyone who's interested I just found a c64 site with loads of games. I'm assuming by now the majority of these games are freeware so hopefully the mods won't mind.

I think I found a new use for my old laptop.
