Anybody heard of the expression: Calling On a Carpet.

The expression is "calling someone on the carpet", "called on the carpet", etc. It basically means you get put on the spot and chewed out.

It's "called on the carpet," for example "Bob was called on the carpet for forgetting to patch the company webserver against code red,"

google should have as much more info as you want.

Yes. I hear it often.

To call on carpet = to be called by your boss for pointing out your mistakes, kicking your @$$, so to speak.

I heard years ago that the expression means what it does because the big boss would have had a carpet in his office.
