anybody heard of RoyalCamera.com??

their "contact us" link contains no physical address or location info, a bad sign
only telephone, email and fax

hmmm...

who is says

342 Kings Highway
Brooklyn
NY,11223

and
CCI Camera City
342 Kings Highway
Brooklyn , NY 11223

i would guess that CCI Camera City is the B&M for them
contact the Brooklyn/NYC Better Business Bureau and see if there are complaints under either business name

i think i ran by them through shopping.yahoo.com, and they only had a few stars

i would check out buydig.com--they have generally really competitive prices;i got my cam from there

Those budget camera outfits are like a plague. Expect a looong wait (if you ever get it) aggressive/abusive upsales tactics, and not receiving what was ordered.

Scroll through PriceGrabber.com's Merchant Ratings and look at the amount of shady camera stores that have had their listings removed, and some of the amazingly BAD reviews.

As always, stick to ratings, but after reading the horror stories on there, I'll pay a bit more and get it from a REAL dealer.

BestDigitalDeal isn't listed?

A PC magazine had a great article on these "shady gray market" camera details who sell online.

Basically any small time camera shop who's based in NY (esp Brooklyn) AVOID THEM like the plague.

You may receive a Canon digicam but it's some POS from a 3rd world country, OEM (or not retail) with no valid USA warranty.

Cheap Camera but the lens cap cost $40, cable to hook it up to your computer is $15, batterypack is $25 ..Oh and the insurance to ship it to you is $90. Think I'm kidding? Look at some of the review sites for these dealers.

I remember that issue, if I find the issue later today I'll e-mail it to you Bluga.

I remember reading about all those camera scam sites. I actually ordered stuff from bhphotovideo.com and was kinda worried because they were from New York but it turns out they are a pretty good company I guess.

Back when American Express Blue allowed pricematching RoyalCamera was one of the great places to pricematch to. Just don't buy from them.

Their prices are low... but more often than not they would try to talk you into buying their accessories which is where the money markup is. If you didn't buy the accessories... they would hastle you til either you hung up and canceled... they hung up on you... or they might go ahead with the order but never send the product.

It's definately a grey market business... don't waste your time trying to save a few bucks because you'll regret it in the end.
