Martin came and sat next to me and kept serving me food profusely after the taping of the show. We were at the Thunder Valley casino right out of Sacramento doing a Chinese food skit for one of the local Cantonese TV programs which my eldest daughter starred in.

A real down to earth kind of guy...

Yup, he paved the way for things like Food TV. I remember watching his show as a kid on PBS. Julia Child had one too, but she was getting kind of creepy. And I'm only 25.

He speaks perfect English with a slight Chinese accent, excellent Cantonese and very very good Mandarin. He told me he just completed 52 shows for PBS and another 52 shows for the Chinese people taped in China. My daughter and I drove back with him in the TV station rented minivan from the Casino two hours back to his car next to the SF airport. He lives here in the SF Bay area.

I remember his show from when I was a kid. He is also occasionally a guest judge on Iron Chef America.

He's more entertaining than most of the chefs on the Food Network (I find them terribly dull sometimes). He's a fun cooking personality and I've always enjoyed his shows since I was a kid.

Anyone remember this low budget cooking show (might have been public access, not sure) called "Biker Billy Cooks With Gas"? It was pretty amusing actually :p

That was my Grandma's favorite cooking show on TV. Use to watch it all the time - in fact, sometimes I still say "If Yan can cook, you can cook," and people look at me funny :(
