Anybody heard of 802.11d for wireless?

In an effort to allow a single wireless card be able to use any frequency in the 2.4 specturm, regardless of country - 802.11d is a mac layer protocol to allow just that. Basically so you don't have a client card for japan, usa, UK, australia etc.

Essentially the AP sends what its regulatory restrictions are and the client agrees and changes its channel range and strength.

Neat stuff, but I've never heard of it. Until it caused some problems. Some new clients weren't able to connect due to regulatory settings.

spidey07, I think Cisco's supported that for a while now. There's some other knobs it gives you, I think it gives you some indoor/outdoor tuning and such. My memory's a little hazy I must admit.
