Ok, here's the story. I had MSN as an ISP for about 5 months, and decided to switch because I had the chance to get another service for cheaper. Well, I had a friend who used to work for MSN Cancellations, and part of their 'thing' was to offer a couple of free months to hopefully keep you with the service. Well, I informed them I wanted to cancel, and of course, was waiting for the offer, but they threw me back with something else.

The woman asked me if I would be interested in the DSL service they were rolling out on Dec. 1. I asked if they had it in my area, and she said it was "nationwide". So here I am, thinking that for DSL to be effective, you have to live within approximately 3 miles to get a good signal, but she insisted it was going to be available to everyone. She stated it was going to be $40 a month, and they would give a free you a free $200 DSL modem and the setup with a technician at your house would be free as well.

I find some of this kinda hard to beleive, and asked for more information to be sent to me, and she said she would have someone call me within the next couple of weeks. Anyone else hear about this??

P.S. got my free 2 months :)

well 'nationwide', yes. but not in the sense that you and i think when we hear nationwide.
what she was refering to was corporate 'nationwide'. what she should have said to clarify, and what you know as nationwide about dsl is true, only households living within apporximately 3 miles (less depending on technology and line conditions) from a DSLAM would be able to receive dsl service. so to clarify what she said- msn has contracted w/ the local bells throughout the nation to provide dsl service 'nationwide'.

$40/m and free modem and installation don't sound to far-fetched to me (but i live in miami, and that's the same deal i got from bellsouth- free installation (by technician, free dsl modem (alcatel 1000) and free first months service, followed by 40/m)

i don't like msn though, so i refuse to order their service and i'm damn happy w/ my bellsouth service.

gl to you though!

is she sure...... cuz we've called several companies about getting dsl to my house but we live way too far for it... bleah.

otherwise its the same deal that earthlink was offering us, and earthlink can't get to our house either.
