Anybody having WindowsExplorer constantly crashing in W2k?

This is becoming a big bother to me. Maybe I have to much shhit installed or too many folders, I don't know.

All I know is that WindowsExplorer crashes a lot every day. Sometimes every three minutes!!

Netscape crashes a bit too, but I'm used to it.

Now I'm wondering if WindowsExplorer and InternetExplorer aren't really the same program. And what I have is just another crashing browser.

Is anybody experiencing anything similar?

Thanks.

As soon as I installed W2K, I went and installed Litestep which replacing Explorer as my shell and have had no problems. At the same time, I think I would have no problems with Explorer either..but you might just have some offending programs/DLLs causing all the problems..Regards

I have had no problem with either IE or Windows Explorer... but mine is a clean install with only a couple of programs in it...

Had the same problems with a clean install..suffered for two weeks tried everything I could think of and finally called tech support. V. knowledgeable guy recommended VIA APG update and current drivers. Solved the problem...hasn't crashed in the past two weeks.

Thanks Marine,

I have a beta bios on my BP6 and that could really be the culprit.

The final version is already available but I've been procastinating the upgrade. Now I have a real good reason to try it. Let you know if it does the trick.

I have windows explorer crash on me constantly with an invalid page fault in pdm.exe. It's in 98se though. System worked fine with 98, works great in win2k, but 98se it crashes explorer a couple times a day. Been happening since I put it on the machine, and it's been reinstalled (from fdisk-clean) a half dozen times with various driver sets.

Oh yeah netscape 4.7 crashes a lot too, but it's done that for years. As much as I dislike m$, I might have to switch to ie5.5, since it doesn't crash on my box.
