Anybody having problems gaming on $399 Acer Laptop Deal?

Bought the Tigerdirect Acer Deal for $ 399. I have loaded the following games and none of them work. They are older games as I use my desktop for newer games.

FEAR 1: Error message to insert correct dvd (I have retail copy not pirated).

COD4: Multiplayer works but Singleplayer just sound works no video.

UT3: Bluescreen about display drivers. I dl DX11 again no dice.

Ran compatability at WinXP on all games no go. Stumped on what is wrong as it is new lappy. Going to try some newer games on steam and see if that works.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Right, I installed the latest Catalyst Mobility drivers on mine (12.7 beta). I also disabled Crossfire on the laptop (there are several places you have to set it in the CCC). Also, there is a part of the CCC that lets you pick if applications run from the dedicated GPU or the integrated GPU. I'd recommend turning off Crossfire and running 3D applications on the dedicated GPU.

There was also a BIOS update available on the Acer website. Not sure what all it did, but I made sure to update to that as well.

Thanks Hans,

I reinstalled COD4 and it seems to be working. Looking like it was a problem with the video drivers that came preinstalled. I'm running the catalyst 12.6 drivers.

I haven't tried reinstalling FEAR yet but did uninstall the built in DVD burner software...wondering if it has virtual capabilities which is throwing off securerom protections.

Hope these suggestions that have been posted helps others that got in on this hotdeal and are having problems.
