Anybody have the software + experience to clean up background noise in an audio file?

I have a micro-cassette that was recorded in a noisy restaurant, I need to clean it up & make the voices more audible.

I think I can handle getting it into my PC (gotta wait for my roommate to get home so I can borrow her micro-cassette recorder), but I have neither the software nor the experience to clean it up properly.

It's a PervertedJustice meeting, met an unsuspecting pedo at Denny's.

:D

SoundForge can do it.. I don't really know the specifics though, I've only fiddled with it a couple of times. Actually knowing what you're doing was beyond me, lol..

If you can find a pre-adobe version of cooledit, the demo use to let you do some noise reduction. It'll probably sound really bad though, random noise like that is pretty hard to remove, at least from what I've found.

How bad are the recordings, can you make out what is being said from the cassette? If so it might work.

Who do you work for?

Nobody.

We were visiting this guy.

He was expecting a visit from a girl (not the 12 year old).

Ok, im confused.

I was with the guy who started PJ. He's the one you hear doing most (virtually all) of the talking.

I was pretty much along for the ride, but it was my idea to tape it.

Nope, PJ isn't law enforcement.

All we can do is make their life miserable. Get them fired, alert their friends/neighbors/families/etc of their indiscretions, generally make them wish they hadn't done such things.

Getting people fired is pretty common, I've long since lost count of how many people have been fired after being featured on PJ.

And how do you deal with the lawsuits?
