Anybody have success with cell phone antenna boosters?

I'm literally like a 2 minute drive away from good reception, so I'm wondering if there is a cell phone antenna booster (or whatever they are called) that will increase my reception. I've seen a couple powered boosters, but I'm not too sure how well they would work, or if they are even worth the money.

Anybody have suggestions or personal experiences with an antenna that helped out? Links to products?

You need an external antenna.

They are realitivly cheap.

I'm thinking I need more than just an external antenna, from what I've read I'd be looking at an amplifier/repeater setup.

Cell phone, internet, and TV all suck in Alaska - but I'd take that over California any day!

You're just jealous because California owns Alaska so much more. :p

Oh, really? I guess I got the impression that you were pretty close to the signal.

Guess you didn't specify how fast you were driving for two minutes. ;)

Well, it would be a good investment anyway. It just might do something for you.

Most built in cell phone antennas are actually -dB.

So even an external +3dB antenna could actually be +6dB total.

If you are close to fringe, external antenna enough.

Repeater/Amp setup will set you back about $3,000
