Anybody have had experiences with digital camera warranty services?

I lost my dearly dearly beloved Canon S30 sometimes this week, and I need a replacement. Although I absolutely adore the Canon line, and pretty much know their functionality by heart... i think its time to move on!

I'm looking at Minolta F, or Pentax Optio, or Olympus D-series... or any other good compact aluminum body cameras... though I might just end up getting a S40/45 or something

Anyways, a big factor is warranty service. I once dropped my S330 a ton of times, and the zoom button broke on me. Also, I once dented the body of the S30 with baseball bat, cracking the viewfinder, too, and both times Canon fixed them quickly and with absolutely no fees or questions asked. Canon warranty is freaking EXCELLENT. My friend had water damage on his Nikon Coolpix 3100 and, after alot of complications, ended up having to pay 150$ for Nikon to fix it.

So, if you guys have anything good or bad to say about your experiences with a certain brand, i'd love to hear it, as it would help impact my decision. thanks!!!! 😀 😀 😀

My Olympus C series devloped a clump of dead pixels. Shipped it in w/ a letter explaining the situation, they shipped it back, said they had cleaned and detailed the interior of the camera and replaced the LCD. Would have cost me $200 if it weren't warrantied. Also tacked on another 2 years to the LCD screen warranty!

I happened to smack my Olympus C720 into the ground while in the camera case. It stopeed working and I sent it to Olympus for repair. came back in 1.5 weeks. I only paid shipping ($10) so I am happy with the service.
