In the last 2 hours, i've taken 4 Tylenol-3s and just took another 2 percocets for a damn headache i've had for a week now. I don't know what it is, but my neck is stiff as hell... when i lay down, i don't even use a pillow because it causes pain. I just hope this isn't going to be chronic, but it's been bad enough that i had to go to the ER, and they were the one that prescribed the T3s and percocets for me. I went to my family doctor yesterday, and he told me to give it a another week or so, to see if the pain goes away on it's own.

I just wish these painkillers weren't restricted... and i absolutely hate asking doctors for it. I try not to ask straight out what i want, because that makes me look like a junkie... i remember the ER doctor giving me the T3s, and i told him that they probably weren't going to be strong enough, and if i could have percocets. He looked at me wierd, and told me that's kind of powerful for the pain i have, but he gave me some anyways... of course they were the weakest type (5/325). I didn't ask my family doctor for the pain meds straight out, but i hinted several times that i could use some, and i guess he didn't catch on... i'll probably end up calling him in a few days when my current percocets run out.

That's fairly common... at least for chronic pain. So are knee injuries. I just wish my pain was something observable, so i don't feel like a junkie everytime i ask for pain meds.

BTW, how'd you develop lower back pain as such a young age?

Chronic pain == living life

Seriously, though. I had the top three vertebrae broken in a sparring match. Temporarily paralyzed from the neck down. I thought that was bad, well, when I recovered from that I developed a chronic neck pain. Always feels like a nerve is pinched. I just learned to deal with it after awhile.

I just can't stand chronic pain. Acute pain isn't a problem, and infact i can enjoy it... getting tattoos, pain in sparring, etc, if it's right, it can become something you 'earned', or will learn from, and often makes you feel alive. But chronic pain, i just want to lay down and die.

And the pain killers helps, usually. Tonight was wierd, but the pain is almost gone now. I just hate having to ask for the meds. I've done my time of abusing them, and i know of all the ways people often scam docs out for them... but i'm one of those people that are very guarded against addiction.

*sigh*... the percocets are working pretty good now. I just hope my doc doesn't give me grief when i ask him for some more.

Oh yes! I love my chronic neck pain because I earned it!

I know what you mean, and sure it's a cool story to tell, but I'd rather have a scar or something that doens't hurt constantly. Chronic pain is chronic pain, and it sucks. I just hope, for your sake, that what you have will go away.

No, that's a chronic pain... i mean acute pain. I use to hear people bitch all the time about getting bruises or hurt in class, but i use to love it. And i didn't mean ALL acute pain, but most. Stubbing my toe isn't something i would like too much i would imagine.

How is it that they have you taking Percs, and not a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory like Motrin or Aleve?

Is there some other medical condition you have that prevents you from taking them? If the answer is no, then go get some ibuprofen, eat a snack and take a couple.

You think i haven't tried that? I've been taking normal tylenol and advil all day, it's only been the last few hours that they didn't work that i've started taking the T3s and percs.

Another day, another headache. I've been chewing on advils and tylenols all day again, and again at around this time, i feel like throwing up. The thing is, i don't know if it's because of the headache, or because of all the pills i'm taking. Does taking too many tylenol's cause nausea?

*sigh* if this doesn't get better in the next couple of hours, i'm going to need to take percocets again... and i don't really like taking those, because then i get too drowsy to get things done.

You know Tylenol can kill your liver & has a relatively narrow threaputic range right?

Docs are wary of prescribing controlled drugs nowdays, and I for one would like to see the restrictions for narcotics be tightened up.

BTW, I'm no stranger to pain, 10 broken bones to far...
